Become Obsessive About Comfort & Convenience
By: Lynda Curtin
Create a respectful environment that will enable people to keep their business needs moving along while they are away from the job. It is surprising how dreadful many meeting rooms are. Some are so uncomfortable people won't sign up for training held in these rooms. Install/Implement:
1. Very comfortable chairs on wheels
2. Big screen TV's with built in VCR's. Enable everyone to be able to see
3. Comfortable lounge area for networking - this is where you get leads for more work with your clients
4. Improved food and beverage options
5. Printers and copiers
6. Bank of email terminals
7. Laptop and cell phone charging stations
8. Oversized meeting rooms
9. Supply of reading glasses
10. Sturdy flipcharts with lots of paper
11. Electronic white boards
12. Reliable handicap access
13. Movable tables for flexibility
14. Well stocked supply cabinet
15. Top notch sound equipment
16. Back support cushions available
17. Open space for stretching and standing
18. Reduced class time - core hours, 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
19. Refreshment stations
20. Outside patios
21. Facilities far enough away from regular work areas to encourage employees to stay during breaks and lunch
Plan for these improvements in your capital budget request each year, even if the meeting rooms are not yours. Take a pro-active stance to get them equipped.
Do all of this to keep customers wanting to come back because the experience is so professional and respectful - MARKETING! "We promise to look after your needs and make your time with us worthwhile."
